The event took place at the Radnor Hunt Club in Radnor, PA, on Friday May 11th. It was a very elegant semi-formal affair with dancing and delicious food (pecan encrusted salmon filets, pasta, salads, tomato onion salad.) Susie Beale, Kim's trainer, and Seema Sonnad organized the fundraiser. Christopher Wright a member of the Radnor Hunt Club was able to reserve the place.
Kelly Morani, Kim's daughter was in attendance, along with Gillian King, Amanda Clement, Maggie and Andy Cappelli, Eileen Corl, and Danny Warrington to name a few. One item that was put up for auction was a 1998 Opus One Napa Valley Cabernet Blend rated at 94 points (in 2000) current price if available over $200.00.
The Manor Tavern was the setting for MNIE's fundraiser extraordinaire on St. Patrick's Day the 17th of March from 6 pm to 10 pm. Over 250 people attended the sold out event with preliminary estimates predicting a new record for funds raised.
There was a silent auction, live auction, 50/50 raffle, buffet dinner, open bar and music in the heart of horse country's favorite gathering place. Auctioneer Derrick Hopkins was very entertaining during the live auction, going as far as pouring drinks for bidders to "enhance" their bidding! Almost 150 silent auction items kept participants hopping.

KIM MEIER
In recent weeks, the MNIE Board of Directors has released funds to be used for emergency and rehabilitation care-related expenses for Kim Meier, an international horsewoman from Chestertown, Maryland. She was spinal-cord injured in a fall from her horse January 16th in Florida where she was eventing and coaching some Maryland students. She is now a quadriplegic and is doing her rehab at Kessler Institute in New Jersey. Her spirits and outlook are good. MNIE is proud to be of significant help at this difficult and costly time. Contributions to MNIE are encouraged and can be sent to Box 296, Jarrettsville, MD 21084.
